| Site surroundings: The station is located in Kyushu University Chikushi Campus (6-1 Kasuga-Koen, Kasuga-shi 816, Japan), 10.4 km southeast of the city center of Fukuoka-shi. Within a 5 km radius of the station, 36.5% is full of hills. The part is mainly suburban housing. The kyushu motorway is 1.7 km east of the station. The motor way route No.3 is 1.4 km away. | Climate characteristics: Climate is monsoon with 16.2 °C average annual temperature. Average temperature in January is 5.8 °C and in July 26.9 °C. Average annual sunshine duration is 1811 hours. About 40% of a year is cloudy (cloud cover ³ 8.5 tenths). Typhoons often hit in August and September. | Comments The vertical sensors are shaded from ground reflected light using order-made shade screen. All the illuminance and irradiance sensors were calibrated by the manufacturers in March 1990. The sky scanner was calibrated also by the manufacturers in May 1993 and set on the top of the measuring tower. |
