Site surroundings:

Chofu-shi, located 20 km west of the center of Tokyo Metropolis, has a population of 0.2 million. Within a 5 km radius of the station, 10% of the land is farmland, 40% is housing with gardens, the rest 50% is recreational fields and roads. The Chuo highway is 1 km from the site.

Climate characteristics:

The site is on the temperate rain belt. Average temperature throughout a year is 14.6 °C, in January it is 3.3 °C and in July 24.9 °C. Average annual sunshine duration is 1942 hours. The dominant sky type is partly cloudy. The closest weather station is located at the Chofu airfield, 2 km north of the station.

The pyranometer was calibrated by the manufacturer, EKO INSTRUMENTS TRADING CO., LTD, according to the World Trading Reference. The manufacturer regulary checks its standard with W.R.R. (World Radiometric Reference) standard. The luxmeter was calibrated by the said manufacturer according to Japan Industrial Standard. The performance of luxmeter is based on CIE pub. 69. The Calibrations by the said manufacturer are made before delivery.
